Eden Arc at Tanners – a simple and elegant garden retreat for a private client
These days, garden rooms are often formulaic, nondescript and lack any great dramatic design feature. In other words – dull.
We were asked to create something unique – so the Eden Arc Special Projects team created this bespoke Alp variation for a private client in Surrey – a 64sqm single storey design comprising a large, open ended office space, an air-conditioned gym and a serene artist’s studio; all with access directly onto the garden and adjoining woods.
The full width, fully glazed office elevation and wrap-around glass slice oozes drama – a real statement piece. With our signature leading edge, seamless eaves and concealed gutter system, providing a smooth, simple and solid extruded profile, this special project showcases the Eden Arc Alp design perfectly.
Full wrap around frameless glass slice
Set smartly along the edge of the owners’ woods, we evolved our standard Alp product to meet the client’s space and finishes requirements – cool, calm, special and open to the grounds surrounding the plot.
For something extra special in the design, we also engineered a unique frameless, full wrap around glazed slice designed specifically to provide the owner with an all-round uninterrupted view when sitting at his desk.
From the very first concept drawings, we located the exact desk and seating position so that the glass slot aligned with the perfect spot, almost designing the rest of the building around this pivot point.
Finished to perfection
The spacious light-filled office interior is finished in Constable Green paint by Neptune, perfectly complementing the walnut acoustic Naturewall panel system behind the desk and stunning oak parquet flooring.
Our stretch ceiling system provides a perfectly flat finish – this system is fast and efficient to install, avoiding any plasterboarding, with greater longevity and lower maintenance.
Fast, highly insulated structure
Eden Arc products are built with highly insulated structural panels. Each is expertly engineered and employs the use of modern sustainable materials throughout, aligning with low-impact and environmentally conscious construction.
Minimised energy consumption, combined with specially selected materials, our assembly and installation techniques and MEP products, means our buildings have increased longevity, greater durability and are highly recyclable.
Cladding and completion
Finished to exceptional levels of craftsmanship, the horizontal Thermawood cladding boards give a soft yet contemporary texture, with concealed doors adding to the flush elevation styling.
Completed with a brick path surround, the entire build is a harmonious combination of the simple, the elegant and the functional. It is a statement piece, whilst also providing a practical, accessible home office and garden studio solution.
